A church I went to when I lived in Alabama used Damprid for a while. We got a new pastor who was a retiring security specialist for the military. He took all of them out and brought in a variety of specific use products he used in his former work. The musty smell in the church basement went away quickly after he did that, FYI, he was a vibrant Bible based teacher as well.

Bad advice with little to no details as to why. If you maintain your safe, there is no reason you can’t use baking soda and also desiccant beads. They are the top level of dryness/ odorless storage. If you have a plug in, that’s awesome, BUT you can absolutely use these products, damp dry, baking soda, desiccant beads. You just have to know what they can and can’t do and how to maintain them. FFS this is a bad video with little to no helpful information other than a sale for the stuff in his store.

I use Damp rid in my closets. It works well in that way. When I went to replace used up bags, I found one that had leaked. The liquid spilled onto several items on the floor. It was not easy cleaning the mess. That water is nasty.

I watched someone recommend a damp rid type product, then looked into how it worked. I can’t imagine the damage a spill would cause. Thanks to you, I may wind up using these to not accidentally destroy irreplaceable heirlooms. I really like how they plug into the wall to burn off the collected moisture

I have the Evas or a brand like it. The only problem is the manual intervention of taking it out to re-charge? What do you recommend that plugs in and is zero maintenance? Thanks. Just realizing many of the nicer gun safes have a power strip inside so one could easily be plugged in.

I have tried the plugins, and I don't want to recharge it after 3 weeks. I threw it out and went back to DampRid Bags. One bag has been in there for 8 months and it will last a year. It holds humidity to 38% with zero leaks.

You stated 3/16 frame, it's actually 3/8. The standard door actually has a 10ga outer, 2 layers of fireboard then the 3/8th plate for a total of 1/2in. . Its also a 2 hour fire rating,@1680F, not 3 hours.

A Golden rod has worked for me along time. You dont beed anything else.

Im looking at switching from keypad to dial lock. Im having a tough time finding a particular dial lock. My friend has one that also has a key in the dial. Instead of dialing all three numbers, all he has to do is turn the key and then the dial to one number and it opens. Does that sound familiar to y’all? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

I have no idea why RUclips decided to recommend this video to me, but this warehouse tour of your safe collection was pretty impressive!

The shitty thing i found is that the guns on the door protrude into the safe so you can't have anything inside closer to the door than 8 inches or the fuckin door won't close. You lose a ton of interior space because of it.

I have been told that one needs to have the "correct amount of humidity" in the safe. That is, if it is too dry, it can affect stocks and of course we know what too much moisture can do. So what product can one use to maintain the right balance?

I like using a few Brevida 62 gram or Boost humidifier packs they work great and I just put a cheap humidifier meter inside to see what my humidity is at! I still think humidity should be at 60% anyone think that’s good enough?????

I have always used Damp Rid in my safe. If you don't spill it on your treasures then you don't need to worry about it.

So there are giant pins that keep the door locked but only a handful of screws that keep the metal attached to the back bracket? Why pry on the door when you could pry on the frame? Seems like there should be some giant concrete bolts attached through the actual frame and into the wall at least
